Learning Illustration: 6 : The Last Class - Patterns and File Formats

So it was the last class of 'basics of Illustration' from Mr  Dan  presented by  Envato+ . The 3 hours course took me quite a long time to finish. But then I didn't want to hurry at all. I was doing logos, making my Fiverr, Upwork, Behance, dribble etc. Doing digital marketing as well. Even tho I am okay with the pace, I could be more consistent with the classes and could finish it at least a week earlier.  In this last class from Envato+ of the basic of illustrator, we were taught to make Patterns. Patterns are amazing to enhance any artwork by a big margin. Dan made the pattern with the alphabet M. I was going to do with D. So first created the illustration of the alphabet D. Then adding offset path to widen up. Copy a version of the letter and reflect it to give it the look of opposite letters.    Then the magic happened. From the tools at the top, opening the Pattern window and selecting "Make" crates so many options to create a variety of pattern...

Participating in Pixle Art Logo Contest for IGG

I play a mobile game called Lords Mobile. The game is from IGG, a mobile game company which is quite big. They initially started with PC games but later shifted to mobile games. I remember playing a game from them 10 years ago, Texas Hold'em Poker. Later I started playing this lords mobile probably in 2017-18.  Good long days. As I was playing the game a few days ago, I suddenly came across it in the news section. It was about a LOGO contest. Man, it started on 20th May. Why did I not see it before? The deadline was shown on 16th June Midnight, which means 17th June 00:00.  I suppose it was in the Chinese time zone, but then the time was written as GMT -5. Either way, I had approx 2 days to complete all the logos. There were two Themes. A, innovation. Keep the Original logo intact and change the slogan from "I got games" to "Gamers at Heart". The fonts colours and placement were a free choice, however, it had to be vector outlined and follow the 3 format rules....

Deviantart and Instagram for Digital art?

Learning skills feel better when shared. When you draw your first piece of illustration, the excitement and satisfaction are out of the world. But when you are the only one staring at the art you made, another pair of eyes can be so rewarding. There are plenty of websites to share digital art. But I picked Deviantart and Instagram.  Deviantart is such an amazing website that holds artists from all around the world of different level of expertise. The community is nice. People share their arts and they support each other with feedback.  Then Instagram is no stranger to anyone I believe. Instagram is an American photo and video sharing social networking service created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. In April 2012.... Okay okay, no copy-pasted long description haha. So, my idea is to post one good drawing of mine produced in illustrator, colour calibrated and signed in photoshopped. Like this drawing of mine.  This image is posted in my  Deviantart (DexLearning...

A Few Logos I made heretofore

Well, I used to make logos with Photoshop before. Before learning this new illustrator thing. Even tho they seemed pretty exquisite and could make me content, I am going to stop making logos using royalty-free images. For one, it's not completely self-made. And many detest the idea of making a unique piece out of not so unique. Like the  article (click here)  explains their views.  Before I pack my logo making case, and shift from Photoshop to Illustrator, I would, however, like to share a few of the works done by me.  The first one is for a Thrifting page based in Mumbai. I'd highly recommend checking the newly made startup. Go check the page here:  Malyvuz  . She sells handpicked, washed, sanitized unique thrifted clothes reasonably priced, and with free gifts!  The logo was a bit too pink for her taste. I had to tweak it a bit and provide her with few more samples, as follows: Good? Well nah. She seems to like a basic round base for the background. ...
