Participating in Pixle Art Logo Contest for IGG

I play a mobile game called Lords Mobile. The game is from IGG, a mobile game company which is quite big. They initially started with PC games but later shifted to mobile games. I remember playing a game from them 10 years ago, Texas Hold'em Poker. Later I started playing this lords mobile probably in 2017-18.  Good long days. As I was playing the game a few days ago, I suddenly came across it in the news section. It was about a LOGO contest. Man, it started on 20th May. Why did I not see it before? The deadline was shown on 16th June Midnight, which means 17th June 00:00.  I suppose it was in the Chinese time zone, but then the time was written as GMT -5. Either way, I had approx 2 days to complete all the logos. There were two Themes. A, innovation. Keep the Original logo intact and change the slogan from "I got games" to "Gamers at Heart". The fonts colours and placement were a free choice, however, it had to be vector outlined and follow the 3 format rules....

Learning Illustration: 5 : Envelope Distort

I was supposed to write this on 14th June. These past two days I didn't get time to do anything nor to write this. I found a Logo contest from IGG very late and the deadline was on the 16th. I made 4 logos and 3 slogans in different formats in the two days. Was such hectic. I'll write about that in the next blog. For now, I shall write what I learned in the last class of  Envato+ on the 12th and 13th of June. It was all about Envelope Distort which can be found on the left side of the Illustrator in the toolboxes. First on texts and then on objects. These tools are so unique and interesting. The first was being Liquify. I mean warp which can be used to give the effects of liquify.                             You drag the text downward in a manner how a liquid would behave.  Cool Ehh? The next tool was Twirl. Man, this is a live drilling machine of Illustrator. As you hold the effect, it keeps spinning and a...

The life of a digital artist

"The life of a digital artist" - It was a project I was working on the night before the last blog. Fell asleep that night while working on it. The next day I clearly couldn't work on it at all, because, reasons. I wrote about it in the last blog.  I wanted to draw this one for a few days then. I wanted to have this illustration that conveys the diligence of a digital artist, any freelancer to be honest. Well, it could speak for any workaholics from any industry. My brother is a banker and works on codings and creates apps. He is quite like that as well. No more beating around the bushes. The drawing was this: I won't make this blog longer. So I will just upload the next steps I had taken. Colouring:  Adding Chair:  colouring the chair: And for the adding details.  I even coloured the whole artwork and then noticed the head didn't tilt enough to make it for a person who fell asleep. I had to redraw the neck and the hands to give him a more tilted headed look. Ii...

I illustrated this but then I disliked it...

I just don't know what is wrong. The starting was so good. Things were going nice and smooth. Then some issues came up with the outlines I drew. Also, I felt the colour combination was not going well with each other. Tried a lot to fix it but to no avail.  I had a hard time drawing the hands. Took me a bit of time just to get settled with his hands.     So my Stomp guy finally looks like this. Stomp guy? what do you mean Dex? Stay with me, you will know soon.  I know the shoe and the ankle has the same colour. I fixed it in the next sitting. I would also have to add light and shadows. But I was kind of more interested in making the surroundings first. My idea was to have this guy gone to have himself milk and cookies from a store. While returning he discovers a puddle. Guess what he does. Yes! He stomps. Hence the name.  Splash! Yes, the motto is to keep your inner kid alive. Do silly times once in a while. Especially when no one is watching you. Did ...

Learning Illustration: 4 : Colour Swatches and Gradient ( Adobe Illustrator )

Writing this down before I hit the bed. Just watched a movie with Winnie, "The Croods". I had already seen the movie years ago. But I wanted her to watch it. Anyway, I am getting off-topic,  This would be a short and fast catch up on the illustration class as it's getting late. So much to do, so much to learn, so little time. In the class by  EnvatoTuts+ , Mr Dan taught us things about colour swatches. It was all about colours. The usage of colour swatches for faster colouring. Adding customised colours to the swatches. And the most interesting one was the colour theme which uses the adobe cloud and shows a variety of colour combinations for a vibrant and eye-catching result. The community's most picked and voted colour combinations and adding them to the colour swatches can bring life to a dull illustration.  And for people who don't like adobe clouds, we were given websites where we can pick other good colour combinations as well. And we were asked to fill colou...
