"A Hello" - illustration by Dex

Remember what I said in the last blog? The flag with the text created in the last class,  that gave me an idea for my next illustration. So I started with a similar box of colours to create the art I was visioning.             My idea was to wrap the boxes and clone them and place each other upside down to make a 'perspective view'. And then draw a girl and a guy sitting inside the box minding their own business while their pets being social. Might be the start of a Hello.       This was the sketching process. Of course not the initial concept sketch. That one is way too gibberish to understand.             After colouring, it would look better I promise.         After colouring and shading, the task was to create their pets. A furry dog for the lady and a brown bigger doggo for the guy. The concept was kind of like this. Now, to bring them to lively dogs, colour...

Attack of nostalgia... with Busted

I was working on a project called "Life of a digital artist". Literally fell asleep to it. Woke up in the middle of the night and decided to save it for the next day. Sun rose and my day began. Wait, let me rephrase. Sun rose and hours passed. Then I woke up. It's a new day and an old project. I was envisioning the drawing I was going to do for the day. Was planning various details and ways to approach the outcome I was intending.  It was almost 12pm and I still hadn't started on the remaining work from the previous night. I was working on making Logos and posting them on my  dribble  and  behance . Created Fiverr and Upwork as well to sell products online. I will talk more about it later. I was having coffee and finishing all these tasks while listening to music on YouTube. I had to clean my room after I was done with logos. I was cleaning and organizing hoarded stuff. I had to go through heaps of items stored for years. If that was not enough for the nostalgi...

Learning Illustration: 4 : Colour Swatches and Gradient ( Adobe Illustrator )

Writing this down before I hit the bed. Just watched a movie with Winnie, "The Croods". I had already seen the movie years ago. But I wanted her to watch it. Anyway, I am getting off-topic,  This would be a short and fast catch up on the illustration class as it's getting late. So much to do, so much to learn, so little time. In the class by  EnvatoTuts+ , Mr Dan taught us things about colour swatches. It was all about colours. The usage of colour swatches for faster colouring. Adding customised colours to the swatches. And the most interesting one was the colour theme which uses the adobe cloud and shows a variety of colour combinations for a vibrant and eye-catching result. The community's most picked and voted colour combinations and adding them to the colour swatches can bring life to a dull illustration.  And for people who don't like adobe clouds, we were given websites where we can pick other good colour combinations as well. And we were asked to fill colou...

Deviantart and Instagram for Digital art?

Learning skills feel better when shared. When you draw your first piece of illustration, the excitement and satisfaction are out of the world. But when you are the only one staring at the art you made, another pair of eyes can be so rewarding. There are plenty of websites to share digital art. But I picked Deviantart and Instagram.  Deviantart is such an amazing website that holds artists from all around the world of different level of expertise. The community is nice. People share their arts and they support each other with feedback.  Then Instagram is no stranger to anyone I believe. Instagram is an American photo and video sharing social networking service created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. In April 2012.... Okay okay, no copy-pasted long description haha. So, my idea is to post one good drawing of mine produced in illustrator, colour calibrated and signed in photoshopped. Like this drawing of mine.  This image is posted in my  Deviantart (DexLearning...

Why starting this blog?

" I will learn C-walk. I love that dance" , said me sitting on the couch watching YouTube videos, " I used to dance before anyway so it wouldn't be that hard."  I was hopeful. I even performed some dance-shows in my school-college days. Boy o boy! Well, how wrong was I? My body had now become stiff and the synchronisation between my hands and legs were totally off. Didn't take it long to understand that dancing is not my forte.  That was not the first time I had called off a learning project. If I recall the abortive attempts in my life is countless. Although I am sure I am not the only one, it certainly doesn't help me feel any better.  I have helped several friends and families of mine with adobe photoshops. Starting from the basics, I started to take advanced projects. Watched a ton of YouTube tutorials and they got me interested. Learnt new things every day. Burnt midnight oils. Then there came a time when I was put in a tight corner. Who stays pass...
